El Matador

Smith St, Collingwood

Here's a rave about 'El Matador', an authentic Spanish restaurant, based in the heart of the once Hispanic enclave in Melbourne town. Run by vascos, Patricia y Urbano Guzman, the hispanophile is subjected to a 'surtido' (array) of Spain's best platos ranging from standard paellas to cazuelas, from tantalising entremeses (hors d'oeuvres) to mouthwatering postres (desserts), bien acompaniados de a wide 'surtido' de Spanish wines and beers, not forgetting liquers, the regions of provenance ranging from Galicia, Valladolid, Catalunya or La Rioja.

Get down to the Rabbie Burns pub in Smith St Collingwood and I dare you come away untouched by such a gastronomic surfeit of food, at a relatively affordable price.

Buen Provecho, compadres!!
